Hey beauty,

I’m writing today’s post from my balcony - a cup of cacao by my side ☕️ - feeling very “full” after a delicious lunch and soul chats with a bunch of beautiful female entrepreneurs. We talked sex, sensuality, beauty, societal standards, rest, play...aaaand sex again. 😉 

And this morning I’m all set to go to the gym for some weight training - which for me lately has been all about the feminine desire to build inner strength.

Now, today I wanna talk about something that most clients come to me about once they start getting clients — AKA: what to do in that final part of a sales call, when you have to talk about ‘the money’, and your perfect prospect says they ‘can’t afford it’,  

It’s definitely a time where you need to tap into a little bit of that inner strength… and it’s also very normal to struggle with, even for the most successful coaches! 💗

The good news is, there IS a way to overcome money objections which is intuitive and soulful — not sleazy — and in this video that’s what we’re diving into.

Today on the blog (and in the FB Live above 🔝which you can choose to watch instead of read) I'm talking ALL things Instagram!

Including:

  • The purpose behind the platform (it's very different to Facebook!)
  • How Instagram can help you to grow your health coaching business 
  • The BEST kind of content to post to Instagram to grow your know/like/trust factor
  • Why you need to add Instagram Stories to your Insta-strategy, too, and how to use it

Consider this your introduction to effective instagram-ing for health coaches and wellness entrepreneurs. 😉

So, let’s dive in!

Instagram is AMAZING for sharing your personal brand, marketing your health coaching business, and sharing your message.

It is literally THE platform of the moment, wouldn’t you agree? And with the introduction of IGTV just last week, I don’t see it disappearing anytime soon! ;)

But I’m going to keep things simple for today, and stick to your Instagram grid, your captions, and your Instagram Stories.

THEN once you’ve mastered those and feeling confident, we can start to look at IGTV.

1. KNOW THAT IT’S NOT ABOUT THE FOLLOWER NUMBERS

First things first, I have to remind you that success on Instagram is NOT just about the numbers of followers you have!  You’ll go so much farther with 200 active followers who engage with what you do, than 2,000 uninterested ones…

And with the new Instagram algorithm, the account that will likely be shown to others is the one with the most activity and engagement on it, NOT the numbers of followers. So do not fret about growing your numbers at a crazy rate, these things take time and are NOT the only goal. 🙂

So really, our purpose with Instagram is to foster engagement and cultivate connection with our ideal client.

Because instagram is a SOCIAL platform and your followers are really your friends.

To do this you can:
 

  • Craft compelling posts…
  • Share value (by providing gold nuggets of information that help your followers)…
  • Respond to your comments…  
  • Pour your love into the platform, and invest time into your community....
  • Get a little vulnerable, and share your personal and business stories…  
  • And connect at a human level as well as a ‘leader’ / ‘teacher’ / ‘expert’ one.

On Instagram you get to wear a couple of hats, which is awesome! 😉

 

2. THIS really MAKES A DIFFERENCE ON INSTAGRAM

The power on Instagram comes when you don’t just share what you do and show how you can help people (although you MUST do that too)...

But when you also share who you ARE.

I’ve said this before, in a previous FB live and blog post on How to Shine on Social Media - but it is SO important to remember that we are human beings building businesses based on human connection.

Your value as a health coach isn’t only found in WHAT you’re selling - although that is really important too, and is something you must talk about on Instagram - but it is also found in the fact that YOU are the one selling it.

Because the only thing that can truly differentiate you from your peers and competitors is YOU!

And Instagram is a great place to share who you are - and give a window into your world and thoughts - and it’s often the only way people can tell if they would be a good fit for working with you!


3. SHARE STORIES AND QUIRKS TO CREATE CONNECTION

When you tell stories and share pieces of yourself you will humanise your business and your brand.

So stories about who you are - the BIG WHY behind what you do - how got you here - pivotal points in your life - and pretty much “who the beating heart is” behind your health coaching business.  💗

Storytelling matters because it makes things memorable. Did you know that people are more likely to remember a story than they are a product name? Pretty crazy right?

I mean, you’ll probably already know one of my “brand stories” if you’ve followed me for any length of time.  My story of how I had realllllly bad adrenal fatigue and left my corporate career to pursue health coaching… or how I finally learned how to leverage my marketing expertise to create success as a health coach…

So you’ll become known for specific stories. Not just your informational and educational posts. Someone will remember you because of that post you wrote about your adrenal fatigue - it will stick in their mind!

And beyond that, you can create FUN connection points that ALSO make you memorable!

Insta doesn’t just have to be a place for interesting or inspiring stories.

You can and should also share FUN quirky things like your love of yoga pants, that acai bowl from your local cafe, your obsession with matcha lattes or Kate Spade stationery - these kind of connections can seem ‘silly’ but they are so amazing for building relationships with your audience and growing your ‘know, like and trust’ factor.

So that when the times come to sell, your tribe trusts and KNOWS you so much more.

Because bottomline is we buy from people we know, like and trust.
 

4. SHow YOUR FACE AND POST PHOTOS of your LIFE

Humanise your brand and business by sharing your face, and photos from work and life. I know that when it comes to our businesses, it’s uncomfortable to get on camera; but in order for people to truly understand and admire you and your health coaching services, they need to know the person and the places behind it too!

There is so much power in human connection. Harness this with stories as I just said - but also with photos from your life, snapshots of your your work, and pictures of you.

Things like 📸

  • Anything use daily in your work - like your laptop. Your journal. Your notebook. Your kitchen. The office or gym you train or coach people out of. Your candle that you burn at your desk. Showing these things you use in your work helps people picture what it’s like working with you!
  • Show yourself behind the scenes in your office, cooking, coaching, working out - show your life happening!  That creates so much connection and kindredness.
  • Your professional brand photos, beautiful headshots, clean images of you, include your hand, your shoes, your home in your photos - anything that offers real human connection.


5. SHOW UP ON INSTAGRAM STORIES

Another great way to create engagement, build relationships with your followers, and craft compelling content that your target audience LOVES to peek at is to play on Instagram stories!!

Instagram stories are an AMAZING way to show the real you, to give people a peek behind the scenes, and to show them how you “do health”.

I recommend posting 3-8 stories per day, if you can!  Why? Well, with Instagram’s algorithm, accounts that are active and engage on the Gram daily (this includes Insta Stories!) are shown more in other feeds… so it pays to be consistent. 

Think... What you had for breakfast? Your morning routine? What you eat while you’re out? Your exercise routine? How you schedule your day? Your family life? Your pets? What you do for fun? What music you listen to?  

The possibilities are endless here and people LOVE seeing your face, getting to know you better, and having a window into your world… (Human beings are curious creatures, and we all love connection 😍)

Hot tip:  

Your Instagram Stories can also be saved into categories as a highlight reel when people either come across your page at first or if your audience is having a catch up on what you’ve been up to, and get an overview of what you’re about…  

You can highlight topics like: Client results / On the blog / Morning Routine / Workouts / Gratitude / Journaling / Healthy Baking

Again, the possibilities are endless - what would YOU like to create and what would YOUR ideal client love?

Jot down some ideas right now of stories you can Highlight on your Instagram Feed!


6. You Have to REPEL in order to ATTRACT ✨

In order to attract your tribe you have to repel other people.  If you appeal to EVERYONE nobody will know what you’re about!  You’ll be so vanilla and sanitised that there is really no reason for you to be on Instagram for your business at all.

You want to attract people who LIKE what you’re about. Someone who likes your aesthetics, who sees the world the same way you do, and who likes the way you present your products and services.  

And that means you have to REPEL other people. 

That’s why you’ve gotta be SO OK with turning some people OFF - so that you can turn other people ON with your feed, your photos, your captions and your stories.

That’s such an amazing and freeing permission slip isn’t it? 

You don’t have to please or cater to everyone. You get to be yourself. Because you want the right type of person to follow your Instagram … not just any old person!!

So your Instagram content has to speak to HER.  And most of all, reflect YOU.

Talk to her (your dream follower and ideal client) about your services and your own journey. Inspire her with your stories. Share your real life, and your business life. And share valuable content that helps her.

Do all these things consistently and you will ATTRACT and befriend her.

And the more you attract people who love your content - and connect with YOU - the more you’ll attract people who want to interact and engage. And when the time comes, buy from you!!

    How to Use Your Facebook Business Page as a Health Coach

    Hey beauty!

    In today's blog post and FB Live video 👆🏼👆🏽👆🏾I'm going to teach you the keys to a killer Facebook Business Page as a Health Coach, and give you some essential action steps to take once to improve yours.  

    When you read the post, or watch the video (it's your call!) you will learn:

    • What’s working on the platform right now...

    (And I want you to know that these tips are up-to-the-minute and reflect the most recent algorithm changes that have taken place over the last few months.)

    So let’s dive in!

    1. The 4 Reasons to Have a Facebook Business Page

    There are 4 reasons WHY you should have a Facebook business page for your health coaching or wellness business... (And these can also double up as GOALS for your page moving forwards).

    Your Facebook Business Page can help you to:

    1. To grow and nurture a target audience who are super interested in your services…

    2. To be highly searchable on the internet - so that people can easily find you online!

    3. To drive traffic FROM Facebook to your website…(and likely back again!)

    4. And to move people FROM a social media platform like Facebook ONTO your email marketing list (that YOU own - so you always want to be growing that list)

    It’s really important to remember that Facebook is NOT about a popularity contest…

    It’s about the conversion rate that you have on your page, and it’s about the genuine engagement that you have as well. 

    So please, don’t get so fixated on your follower numbers that you lose sight of why you’re on there in the first place.

    • To grow and nurture a target audience

    • To be searchable, and be easily found online!

    • To drive traffic from FB to your website.

    • To move people from FB onto your email list.

    2. the 3 things you must optimise on your BIZ PAGE

    To build a high-converting, high-impact page. 

    These are things to look at on your current page if you already have one - or things to keep it mind when you set one up!

    Number one = your profile picture…  
    Number two = your cover photo…
    Number three = your username…  

    YOUR PROFILE PICTURE. 

    Make your profile picture a bright, clear and crisp photo of YOU smiling directly at the camera - it’s so important to cultivate that connection right from the get go.

    Your Cover Photo.

    You want your cover photo to be a great lead magnet - think of it as a digital billboard that your client sees the first second they get on your page.  

    So your cover photo doesn’t need to be another photo of you. Instead, use that cover photo to promote an opt-in (a valuable free gift that you are offering to your clients to get them on your email list) - or a billboard for your services, your offerings or your message - perhaps by sharing a powerful tagline on your cover image.

    Your Username.

    Make it as close to your business name as you can get. Clear is better than clever, always! You want your page to be highly searchable and easily found!

    Now you’ve got your FB Business page up and running, your next step is to…

    3. Post content that ties back to your business

    To do this I recommend choosing 5 or 6 categories - what I call brand pillars.

    So for a health coach these categories might be - gluten-free food, functional fitness, inspiration, transcendental meditation, non-toxic lifestyle and hormonal health!

    Or more simply: nutrition, fitness, inspiration, meditation, essential oils.

    Then, all you need to do  is to post to ONE of those different categories each day…

    You do a post for category 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, then go back around and rinse, and repeat!

    When you’re doing this you’re giving a FULL STORY of who you are, who your brand is, what your business does, and what people can expect from you… Plus it makes it a lot easier to create content. 👏🏼

    Remember, scheduling and consistency is key!

    I know you know this already, but you really don’t want to disappear and fall off the face of the earth when you’re working hard to build a tribe and a following online.

    If you can, try to batch create all of your FB Business Page content in the first week of the month - or on the first day of the week if a month feels too big a task - and then schedule it all to go out automatically.

    This way you’re keeping it consistent, and staying in touch with your ever-growing community every day.

    4. best practises to maximise your post reach

    I strongly recommend you schedule posts directly through Facebook rather than through a 3rd party program like Later or MeetEdgar so that your posts are favoured by the algorithm.  

    That’s best practice if you’re really looking to maximise your reach on Facebook.

    Likewise, it is best practice is to minimise your outbound links - because Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t love them, and wants to keep you on the app for as long as possible!

    So use them only for what’s really important - getting people to your website or having them opt-in to your mailing list, for example.

    That’s what really matters.

    Not sharing a video that someone else posted on YouTube. 😉

    5. switch on reviews & share testimonials

    The beauty of Facebook is that you can have other people do your marketing for you!

    To do this, be sure to share messages from friends, raving fans, or clients talking about how amazing you are (and your services, of course!).  

    You don’t need to do ALL the heavy lifting with marketing, let your clients and your community do some of it for you. 

    Make sure that at LEAST once a week, you’re sharing a testimonial, some kind words, or sharing some results your clients are getting on your FB Business Page.

    And open your FB Business Page up for Reviews if you want to really amp up your credibility, and start to notch up those 4 or 5 star reviews. Ask your happy clients to leave a review on FB that you then repurpose for your website. 

    6. your analytics are your secret weapon!

    Review Your ‘Insights Tab’ on Facebook!

    Then when you review your analytics and your numbers, you will figure out what’s working, what’s not, and that will help you refine your content strategy. :)

    So read the Insights Tab on your Facebook Page - then you can keep track of how different posts are performing.

    You want to look at WHEN people are most engaged by seeing which posts get the most traction (so you can schedule your posts and FB Lives for when people are most online) and be aware of WHAT kind of content they like and engage with the most.

    Remember, you always want to make sure that you’re talking to your niche, and your audience is loving your content.

    So if you get tons of views and engagement on videos, but hardly any likes on random food pics, maybe your page needs to be more videos! Every audience is different!

    remember: Failure is your Friend...

    Facebook (and social media in general) really is a science!  This is why studying your analytics is so important, and I will get to that in just a second...

    But if you take one thing away from this blog post, it’s that it’s so OK to fail!  What I mean by that is, if a post doesn’t get much engagement or likes or reach - then that is SUCH valuable information.

    You will never ever learn anything about social media WITHOUT putting out content that doesn’t perform so great.  We’ve all been there many times! When that happens, all you need to do is try something different next time! Then review again...  

    You’ll quickly start to see what works and what doesn’t.

    7. Now is a good time to start a Facebook Group

    You’ll probably have noticed that FB is showing more posts from friends’ and family in your feed of late. That is due to the saturation of advertising on Facebook, and Facebook’s move back towards community in the latest algorithm change...  

    If you go and have a look today, you’ll see that you’re also getting a lot more GROUP posts in your feed - again, that is because of the latest algorithm change -  

    Facebook is favouring Facebook Groups over Facebook Business pages, in terms of how much your content is seen, because groups are community based…

    So if you can also create a FB group, that’s a really great thing to do!!

    This is just a change that took place maybe 1-2 months ago, and it is something to keep in mind.

    You absolutely, 100% still need a FB Business Page — so if this feels like a LOT, don’t worry, pour your focus there…  

    The Facebook Group piece is just something to keep in mind as you grow your online presence, and as you evolve your business. If you’re at a more advanced stage it is DEFINITELY something to think a about.


    📝 So your homework from this blog post is to:

    • Optimise your Facebook Business Page by making sure your username is clear, your profile pic is a great photo of you smiling at the camera, and cover page is a lead magnet or business billboard…

    • Share consistent content across your brand pillars, scheduling directly through Facebook not a third party…

    • Ask your happy clients to review your services on your Facebook Business Page…

    • Look at your analytics in the Facebook 'Insights' section every week or month so you can see what content is working best, and what your best time to post is…

    • Consider starting a Facebook Group, since Facebook favours them…

    • And don’t be afraid of failure! That’s where the ✨gold ✨is with social media - and is a necessary part of learning how to shine online, and figuring out what your audience wants.

    Do you ever struggle with social media and feel stressed-out, overwhelmed, disappointed in your follower numbers or confused about what to post…?

    Last week I sent out a survey to my email list asking what they most need support on - and so many people responded saying that they wanted more training on using social media as a health coach.

    Which is perfect timing, because it’s been top of mind for me lately too!   

    You see, I recently returned from a week of Masterminding in Hawaii with some of the TOP women in online business right now - and we spent a lot of our time time talking all things social... 

    (And I will share a lot of what I learned there with you all later in this post!)

    So in response to the survey answers... 

    I spontaneously jumped on FB Live last week to share my thoughts and insights on what’s happening in social media right now...
    And served up actionable tips that will help you feel more purposeful and confident on social media, and use it more effectively to grow your health coaching biz.

    Firstly - how truly lucky we are to have all of these platforms at our fingertips, to get our message out to people - for FREE.

    It’s really not that long ago that the only way to run a business was renting a bricks and mortar building; and putting ads in the phone book or the local paper.

    So we’re really, really, really lucky! 🙂 

    But at the same time, with so many different social platforms out there, it can get pretty  overwhelming trying to keep up and be seen.

    And we don’t own those platforms ourselves... 

    Which means we do have to play by the rules of others, and keep up with any algorithm changes that Mark Zuckerberg decides to throw our way. 😉

    Now one thing I want to clear up before I give you my 4 social media tips is this:

    The expectation of how quickly we should be able to get our social media platforms up and running is CRAZY!  Really, you should expect it to take YEARS to build your social media platforms up….
    I’ve been building mine for 6 years now.

    When I work with coaches, I find a lot of people want a quick fix - they want a lot of followers, and they’re focused more on the number of followers than on their engagement, their relationships online, the quality of the followers they do have - or the quality of the content that they are putting in front of their audience.  

    So, if you’re after the ‘quick fix’ - I suggest you close your computer, go do something else - because I’m not going to be able to share that with you!

    But if you’re in it for the long game, and you’re really serious about getting your work out there into the world, then listen to what I’m going to share…

    Because social media really IS the way to do that.  

    Even more so today than in the last couple of years.

    Social media platforms are a way of bringing mutual friends together, and connecting us to millions of people around the world who are interested in the same thing as us! 
    The top thing is to remember that this is about true connection (not sleazy business or marketing tactics) and getting our message out there.


    So without further ado, here are 4 tops tips to help you shine on social media in 2018!


    1) Focus on your target market (aka: your niche, or your ideal client)
     

    In my experience, this is something people read the book on…and then feel like they should never go back to it again.  

    When actually, target market is something that you should focus on alllllll the time.

    You need to know that ONE ideal client you are talking to - that one ideal person you are getting out of bed/onto your phone/on camera to share your message with.

    Because when you're sharing online, it’s NEVER about you.

    As scary as it can feel to go live or post online - and as much as you worry about people judging you, or what your ex is thinking when they see your post 😉 - it’s not about that either…

    You’re really showing up there for your target market. 

    (This is the same for me too!  I’m here for my ideal client, ‘Sarah’ who is trying to build her health coaching business. But it’s totally ok if your name is not Sarah… I just need to know that ONE person I am speaking to, to truly create a connection.)

    So study your target market - see what they are struggling with, what they want or need help with, the outcomes they want, or their pain-points. Survey them if you can!  

    Because when you know you're creating something that’s truly valuable to them, you will stop focussing on your internal fear, and instead focus outward - knowing that you can, will and DO support others through your online presence.

    2) Treat your followers as friends

    The biggest mistake I see people making on social media is treating their social connections as business relationships, not friends.  

    You need to realise that we’re talking to friends online. We’re talking to other women, other men, other people just like us - and we’ve got to treat these relationships as social connections.

    I see so many people saying: ‘I don’t know what to share!’  

    My answer is to that is:  What would you say to a friend if she was sitting across from you having coffee right now? What would you say to a friend if they came to you with that pain-point or problem?

    Be real. Be genuine. Social media is not about business, it’s about connection.

    There’s a different energy in a photo that has ONLY my laptop, a latte and a green juice in it - compared to when I put my hand in it.  The difference is the human connection.

    So we’ve got to remember, this isn’t just about a curated business. It’s a human business built on connection.  

    As coaches, we can’t hide behind stock photos anymore - in fact, one of the most challenging things in online business right now is that we do need to be showing up on camera, and posting photos of OURSELVES - which can of course be vulnerable.

    But to really have that connection on an intimate human level, we need to be seen.  

    As viewers, we want to see real people - and that is exactly what the algorithms are serving up too. If you get on a FB Live, it will be shown in the Facebook Newsfeed - whereas if you put up a generic quote on FB, it probably won’t!

    So you must create content that cultivates connection - primarily photos of you, and video. 

     

    3) set up a FB business page, above all else.
     

    I built my business using the ‘Facebook Universe’ - Facebook and Instagram - so that is what I am going to talk about next…

    On Facebook - if you do nothing else at all - you MUST have a FB business page.

    I see it as an online Business Card of sorts.

    It may not be the piece that gets the most engagement, but you MUST have it (and if you want to run ads in the future, you can only do those if you have a Business Page).

    It  is the single most important asset you have on Facebook.

    And Facebook is a platform that has been around for a long time, is not going anywhere, and is important to be a part of. 

     

    4) PLAY ON INSTAGRAM STORIES - AND STUDY WHAT WORKS.


    On Instagram - be playful and get your study on! (I’ll explain what I mean in a second… )

    Instagram is massively hot right now, especially Instagram Stories.

    For your homework, I want you to come along and PLAY with me on Insta Stories… 

    Because THAT is the energy of Stories right now. It’s all about PLAY - sharing our real lives, sharing our real selves. It’s about building true friendship and connections alongside sharing our business messages. 💗 

    Instagram + Facebook are the two that we focus on in my UPswing Mastermind for Health Coaches - and in general I feel they are the top two platforms to focus on when building a business in the health and wellness space.

    And a great way of learning the platforms - if you’re not in a program like my UPswing Mastermind - is to get on there and STUDY!

    Here's what I recommend you do:

    • Click here to follow my Insta Stories.

    • See what you like, and what you don’t like.

    • Then emulate what you love - just try doing smaller things as you get started, gain confidence, and grow from there.

    • Study what’s working for other people in your industry, too! 

    • Look at another health coach who is doing great, and look at how is SHE doing her Instagram posts and Insta Stories. Because I guarantee she’s taken the time, energy and money to work out what’s working, and you can learn from that.

    And most importantly, have fun with it!

    A lot of people are saying social media is getting HARDER.  

    I actually think it’s getting more real and more juicy because we can’t hide behind tactics anymore. We have to show up, be real, be ourselves, and cultivate those true connections.

    People love realness. 

    And when you come at social media from that angle, I think you’re going to love building your tribe and getting on there as well. 💗

    It's been very busy in my world lately.

    Working with over 50 health coaches a week, launching the next round of my UPswing Mastermind program, and travelling back to New Zealand for Christmas and New Year with my family.

    A few weeks back I was presented with an opportunity that felt almost too good to be true.

    I hesitated... I almost didn't say yes... Maybe they were mistaken... Maybe I should think about it some more first... Maybe I'm actually too busy right now... I'm about to launch my program so maybe I should be "safe and responsible" for the next few months...

    Oh and the clincher: Maybe I shouldn't spend the money needed to take action...

    Isn't the mind clever at holding us back from our dreams?!

    When an AMAZING opportunity came my way...

    Instead of jumping all in with a YES...

    I questioned it.  I didn't TRUST.

    Thankfully I caught myself super quick. Took a deep breath and said YES to the opportunity... and already, only a few weeks later, so many things have unfolded as a result that I couldn't have even logically dreamed of myself.

    Saying yes to that one opportunity created a ripple effect that I could never have created alone - and yet I almost missed it!

    Sometimes we can be so 'busy' in everyday life that saying YES to something new can almost be missed, despite our dreams and best intentions.

    Or sometimes when something arises that we would love to do, our sneaky monkey mind comes in to tell us "You can't do that," or "What if it doesn't work out?".

    How are things going for you right now?  

    Do you ever get these conflicting messages between your heart, your dreams and your monkey mind? 

    Are you feeling a bit daunted by the whole "Health Coaching Business" thing?

    I know that when I was first out of training, I had big expectations about what I was going to be able to do with myself.  No more long hours in the office... loads more time to get to those yoga classes... not feeling like I had to rush from one life draining part of my day to the next... it was exciting!!

    Then as time rolled on and I couldn't seem to bring in enough clients... I started to doubt my big dreams.

    Who was I to want this? Could I actually do this? Did I have what it took to run a profitable business?

    Then, as amazing opportunities presented themselves - chances to learn how to really do this from mentors I admired - I had moments of doubt.

    And you know... I don't think any of it had to do with what was on offer, because at the time I knew it was what I needed!

    What was holding me back was ME.

    I had moments where I just didn't trust myself...

    I didn't believe that, if I was given and accepted this opportunity, I could actually be trusted to put in the work and do it.

    If I'd listened to that inner critic, I would NOT - in any way - have the life I have. The freedom. The choice. The lifestyle. 

    So what was it that stopped me from listening to that inner critic that was telling me that I couldn't trust myself?

    I looked at it rationally.

    I knew that I had trusted myself to complete my health coaching training. And I'd done it. I'd graduated.

    I'd trusted myself to decide to leave my corporate job and start my business. And I'd done that.

    So I knew that I had a track record of going for my goals.

    And when I realised this - I was able to keep my eyes on this new goal and make that leap.

    That investment in myself has repaid itself many times over. :)

    By now I’m sure you feel like you’re Jennie’s best friend. So do I! She's taken us on a bit of a rollercoaster ride, hasn't she? The fact she’s allowing me to tell her story so you can really learn from her journey shows how deeply Jennie cares about transforming people's lives.

    Previously we spoke about how Jennie grew her business too quickly by making the biggest mistake I see all health coaches make, and that’s not packaging up your services.

    Selling one off sessions and working for an hourly rate is a one way ticket to Brokeville.

    Jennie had sacrificed her health for her business because she didn’t have the foundations of a package setup that would allow her to run a business filled with health and wealth.

    Jennie thought in order to become wealthy, she needed to sacrifice her health, but that’s the furthest from the truth, and I can promise you there’s a better way.

    You don’t have to make a choice between whether you want to be wealthy or whether you want to be healthy, in fact, wealth is important because it opens you up to a whole new level of health - something I’m so passionate about teaching to all of my clients.

    When Jennie started creating her packages, she put a lot of thought behind how they were best going to serve the lifestyle she wanted to live.


    Key Lessons For Health Coaches:

     When designing your package, you need to ensure you take into account how you truly want to design your own life.

     Think about what your non negotiables are and start with them in mind, instead of creating a package that your life needs to fit around.

     For example, if you need to pick the kids up at 3pm from school, you last coaching session for the day is at 1.45 - 2.45pm.

    Your desires must be at the forefront of your business in order to run a successful health coaching business that supports you living your happiest, healthiest and most aligned life.


     Anything that does not fit within your non negotiables you MUST learn to say no to.

    When Jennie created a health coaching package that worked in with her busy life, she started getting more enquiries, and before she knew it she had her best month, working only the 1.5 days per week she desired.

    Have Your Been Throwing Back in the Trenches as a Coach

    There is an odd phenomenon that I have witnessed over and over again when mentoring new health coaches.

    It’s what I call being ‘thrown back in the trenches’.

    This came into play recently with my UPswing Mastermind students. They were all diving deep into their ideal client/ target market. And things were starting to surface. Wobbles were starting to show.

    In the group Laser Coaching calls I was being asked what was going on – why this felt so uncomfortable.

    Well, what I have observed from helping hundreds of Health Coaches grow their businesses, is that sometimes when a woman makes a decision to say YES to becoming a coach –not just talking about it, but seriously deciding to go for it– it can feel as if the Universe has a little laugh.

    “Oh yea, you’re really serious?” it seems to snicker, “Then let’s throw you back in the trenches to struggle for a bit again – just so you can remember what it TRULY feels like to be your ideal client.”

    You see, for many of us we have been called to be a coach after overcoming a massive transformation in our own life.

    And after coming out the other side it can feel like ‘I’ve got it’ and I want to share this with other women going through what I did.

    But from that place of ‘already mastered this’ we can lose touch with how it felt ‘back then’.  We can be quick to forget the true pain;  what it is really like to be going through that experience. 

     

    We forget things like:

    ·      What you would truly need support on

    ·      What you would actually buy to overcome the pain

    ·      What tools and resources you would need to create lasting change

    ·      What shifts you’d need to make to your mindset in order to heal

    And so the Universe gives you a little ‘helping hand’ to jog your memory.
     

    And it might suck at the time (it DOES suck at the time, that I can attest to), but this makes for the creation of a REAL and GENUINE coaching program for your ideal clients – one they WANT TO BUY.  And it makes you an even better coach.  A truly compassionate coach.

    And if you wonder why people are lining up to work with you asking, ‘How do you know I feel that way?’ or ‘It’s like you read my mind with your copy…’, it’s because you revisited your former self and got even more clear on what your pain points were and exactly what you did to overcome them.

     

    Here’s a perfect example of how it worked for me:

    A few months ago, I myself had a (thankfully very brief) return to the trenches with my money story.

    I invested a HUGE amount of money – more than I had ever done in my life – in myself.  And…you guessed it…a whole lot of money fears reared their head.

    At first I got scared, and my first reaction was: ‘I thought I had this money thing sorted?!’

    Then I realized I was going to have to walk my talk by going back through all of my own teachings again. And because I had to do so step-by-step again – I was able to this time document it as I went.  I delivered those exact steps to the ladies who joined my new mastermind program.

    I had never before been able to articulate the ‘steps’ of wealth consciousness with this level of clarity – and days after that training many women were making thousands of dollars from their first clients. (I hadn’t even taught them ‘how’ to get clients yet… it was purely from me being able to teach ‘wealth consciousness’ in a new way after a brief stint back in the trenches).

    So, if this phenomenon happens to you when you finally make a proclamation to the universe that you are ready to play bigger (note that my ‘return to the trenches’ happened after I stepped up to a higher biz mastermind’), then try and relax if you can – but most importantly – document what you do to climb back out yourself.

    This is what you are meant to be teaching to others!
