Why i don't aim for Freedom as an Entrepreneur

I have loved building a business that creates a ‘freedom-based’ lifestyle.  After all, ‘freedom’ is one of my top values.

The internet is full of claims of how to ‘gain freedom’ from becoming a coach or entrepreneur. Freedom is one of, if not the biggest drawcards for people wanting to start their own business.

But here’s the truth.

For me, freedom is not my greatest goal.  That’s right, it’s not my dream destination.

While I value not having a boss and not having to work set hours, and while I love ‘passive income’, if I have to be totally honest, sitting on a beach doing no work for the rest of my life would drive me insane.

Why?

I was born with great gifts to share with the world – and I don’t want to limit sharing them just because I have an end goal of personal freedom.  My goal is to use them to create the highest impact in the world possible. You just can’t put a limit on that!

I just can’t see myself in my 80’s, saying how happy I was to stop working. Why would I want to STOP using my gifts and giving life my all?

My life completely shifted when I tapped into my own WHY of knowing I am here to support Health Coaches and Wellness Entrepreneurs to rise - to be visible, to be heard and to make the MASSIVE IMPACT the world needs from your skills.

The fire within has never stopped blazing since I tapped into that truth - and honestly, I don't see that stopping just because my business reaches a point of 'freedom' - it's just not what drives me at the core.

I’d been thinking about this for quite a while when I heard my own mentor talk about this in a unique way in Austin in February. 

He shared with us this model:

 

 

These are the 7 stages:

1. Discovery: Discovering who you will work with, what you will offer them and what they will buy. The foundations of your business. (This stage can not be skipped)

2. Confidence: Consistent clients and income. You are confident on the product or service you offer and are building confidence through learning to market that.

3. Excellence: Building your brand for greater leadership, visibility and expert status so that you can serve even more people. What will you be the best in the world at?

4. Freedom: Team building, systems and operations. The focus is on how to make the business work for you - and you are now working ON the business more than IN it.

5. Reflection: Am I happy with a level 4 business? Or do I desire level 7? There is no right/wrong answer here, it is a time of reflection to discover what is true to you.

6. Impact: Massive change in both thinking and operations of a level 4 business. The foundations are being laid for MASSIVE impact and scale.

7. Legacy: How will you and your business have changed the world in 100 years? This is where your purpose become fulfilled and you make the difference you are here to make.

 

 

At Stage 4 ‘freedom’ is where a huge decision point comes in for entrepreneurs. To go beyond stage 4 cannot be done alone – it takes a team.

There is also a MASSIVE difference in how a business is run at stage 3 ‘Excellence’, 4 ‘Freedom’ and 7 'Legacy’.

Most entrepreneurs set stage 4 as their dream outcome [what does the dream outcome offer them; why do they choose this?]. 

It’s a personal choice, for sure – and one that I think most health coaches would be stoked to achieve.

So, here I am on the verge of stage 4 in my business, and – honestly – I can think of nothing more boring than stopping there. I just can’t see it happening for me.

Life is about expansion. There is always something calling us forward. There is always something more to be experienced and created and given. There is always potential for enormous impact to be made.

I see my work as helping women reach their absolute fullest potential (that is the way you will help others) - so the more I keep doing so, the ripple effect will continue. And I am yet to find there is a limit to how much expansion is possible.

Talk about an AWESOME career!!

Happy July 4th week! WOW – what a gift it has been to spend Independence Day in NYC this year with some of my favourite business buddies. 

As I write this to you from high up above the world I am feeling a massive sense of freedom (yup, I’m currently experiencing one of my bucket list experiences – flying from NYC to LA on Virgin America First Class - (whole other post to write on this experience) In fact this entire trip has been all about FREEDOM at a whole new level of awareness and unfolding for me. 

Some of you may remember that my husband broke his collar bone a few days before I was due to come on this trip.

I did postpone my flight for a few days, but I didn’t let the ‘rules’ or opinions of others hold me back from following through on my own path to spending 6 weeks in the US this summer.

 

 

In fact even once I was over here, I found I wanted to stay longer, but I was running a story in my head that 4 weeks was the ‘limit’… that after that I was a ‘bad wife’….

I chatted to John about this and he shared that actually, it was easier for him to heal when he’s home alone and he’s much happier knowing I’m following my dreams.

(HOW awesome is he? Right?!)

It was a massive wakeup call for me that I was still putting my own desires last in many decisions I make, often worrying about what others might think. 

You see we all have stories in our mind which hold us back from following our truth. And most of the time that are just that - stories!

Sometimes we are even carrying other people’s stories around with us (I had plenty of other peoples opinions on why I should be home with John – not ‘galavanting’ the world….)

Realising it is ‘safe’ to keep following what feels great to me has been such a big gift – and each time I’ve extended this trip further, yet another opportunity has come my way that I could never have planned if I tried. 

On my path of learning to follow my heart’s guidance and following what lights me, I always choose to set an intention for each new month.

 

For June my intention was “Connection”

When I told a mentor that I was coming to NYC to ‘connect’ with people, she asked if I actually had any meetings lined up and I felt almost embarrassed to say ‘no’.

Stories started playing in my head that I was wasting my time going to NYC, I wouldn't meet people there, no-one would have time to meet with me....

Those sneaky stories again!

Yet when you set an intention, and let yourself be guided instead of trying to ‘work it all out in your head’, magic can unfold.

 

Just a few of my highlights from NYC are:

-       Entrepreneurs lunch in Soho

-       Broadway shows with business buddies

-       Creators Dinners in Soho

-       Juices in Madison Square Park with entrepreneur friends

-       Sunday rooftop BBQs in Queens with best friends

-       Lunching with UPswing Mastermind clients in Chelsea

-       Coffee meetup with a mentor in the Upper Westside

-       Intimate night gathering on a Brooklyn rooftop with raw chocolate, rose and                 fempreneurs

-       Working in the Ace Hotel Lobby (best draft cold brew, tunes, couches and wifi in           town)

-       Lounging at the Equinox Pool (followed by massages)

-       Bike riding around Central Park

-       Lunches and dinners with family friends

 

Not bad for what was meant to be a quick trip to NYC after my business mastermind in Austin. (where I connected with 30 of the worlds top business people too!)

If I had have followed my original ‘plans’ of heading back home to Sydney to be a 'good wife', instead of following my hearts desires, I would not have allowed my intention to unfold for my highest good.

As I watched the July 4th fireworks from the luxurious 53rd floor midtown NYC apartment I’ve been staying in with my friend, surrounded by some of my favourite biz buddies – I was full of gratitude for a new depth of Independence and Freedom that is available to us today as women entrepreneurs.

This freedom comes from dropping our stories, dropping our fears and daring to follow the whispers of our heart (even when others think you’re crazy)

We all have dreams – growing your business, leaving your day job, hitting your first $5k month, spending winter in a country that’s in summer, more connection, more freedom….

And it is honestly only our stories which hold us back from experiencing these!

While the world continues to explore and celebrate independence on a global scale, we as woman are experiencing this within ourselves in tandem.

We are waking up to the truth that we have choice.

We have the choice to step into even more freedom each and every day – in our lives, in our businesses – and so it is more important than ever to drop our own stories, drop the judgments of others and ask ‘what would I do today if there were NO LIMITS or rules at all?’

Continually asking this question on this trip not only led to mind blowing experiences here in NYC, but is also the reason I’m heading to LA tonight instead of rushing home.

I’m not sure what will unfold in LA, but I will tell you next week the pretty crazy story of how I ended up adding 8 days in LA to this trip. (and getting upgraded to First Class)

How to find your creative flow (lessons from NYC)

How to find your creative flow

 

I see so many new Health Coaches get stuck on being creative – coming up with ways to market their purposeful packages, getting creative with naming their packages and programs, coming up with website and sales page copy that sells or creating blog posts that knock their readers socks off.

I’ve witnessed an idea that perhaps some people are ‘born’ more creative than others. I happen to think it is not that way at all.

 

 

My experience has been that we can choose to CREATE our state at any stage – speaking as someone who has been through design school and being an art director for years (when I was, honestly, naturally better at subjects like maths).

In other words, it is not something we are born with – but something we can choose.

The key to choosing creating your creative state is to start taking note of what fuels you - know what energises you and gets you in a state of creative flow.

I am currently staying with my friend here in NYC.  Over our morning lemon water catch up earlier, we reflected on how we were both setting ourselves up for a massively creative day.

She had cleared her schedule of any distractions, and was staying home to work on her bed - the quietest place possible, so that she could really focus and get creative.

Luckily for me, her wanting me out of the house to do this worked out perfectly, as I, too, had set the intent to have a massively creative day, in my own way.

I was heading out the door to my favourite hotel lobby in midtown NYC, which has loud old-school music, funky industrial interiors, other driven people creating away and a fantastic set up for co-working (in fact, I’m currently sitting in that lobby, and this is about the 10th blog post I’ve churned out so far).

So, there is actually no right or wrong way to create our state. It’s about getting to know yourself well.

The beauty of being an entrepreneur is that we can choose our ideal conditions and set ourselves up for greater enjoyment, creativity and outcomes by honouring the path to creating our creative state.

 



Challenge for the week:  Start to carry a notebook and take notice of how your state appears in different scenarios.

Get clear on where and when you feel most tuned in to your creativity.


Take note of what fuels you

As I said above, take note of what fuels you, such as the space you like to create in:  My friend loves quite, distractionless surroundings, while I love to be immersed in a vibrant environment.

Do you have a ritual that gets you in the ‘zone’? Do you set an intention for how you want your creative time to flow?
 

Identify how you like to work

Do you like to work in 20 minute chunks or 3 hour chunks? Are you more likely to feel inspired to work in the early morning? Or late at night?

 

The world needs your impact as a coach – and it’s up to you to find the way that best works for you to take massive action with great joy.

Blunt Truth About Working in Feminine flow

 

I made it! I’ve touched down in Austin, Texas and checked into my favourite hotel the W.

I love being able to travel the world and work from anywhere. To me, this is one of the greatest benefits of having my own business.

I went to the Internet Marketing Party here in Austin last night and when the guest speaker shared his $4 million dollar launch secrets, his parting quote was ‘sorry folks, this does NOT happen by sitting on your laptop on a beach’

The crowd laughed a knowing laugh.  

He had such a good point.

Anyone who is running a really successful business is still ‘working’ to make it happen.

And as female entrepreneurs, I think we are looking for that magical ‘balance’ between freedom and success.

While I see so many female entrepreneurs wanting to live a freedom-based lifestyle, I do think the conversation in female only circles tends to quite skewed.

In a world where ‘feminine’ and ‘flow’ are buzz words we are all striving towards, we can in my opinion fall into a disillusion that all we have to do to make a great income is chant some mantras, meditate on our dreams and maybe host an occasional webinar or facebook group.

With my history of Adrenal Fatigue – I totally get it!

We’re over working HARD… and that is because as females ‘pushing’ is not our natural state.

We are meant to ‘receive’.

In fact sometimes I am witnessing clients so ‘burnt out’ from working in masculine mode their whole lives, that the thought of even taking clients on is too much for them.

I witness most female entrepreneurs falling into one of two camps.

Hustling and pushing, going hard, making it happen! (Masculine Mode)
Meditating, journaling and visualizing a thriving business. (Feminine Mode)

Neither is winning in my eyes.

Option 1 leads to burnout. Option 2 leads to disillusionment.

So what’s a ladyboss to do to generate a thriving business?

BOTH!

There is a lot of talk of ‘working from the feminine’ in entrepreneurial circles, but my own experience has taught me that there is a difference in ‘feminine only practices’ and the ‘empowered feminine’ – which is actually a ‘fierce flow ’ and requires both the feminine and masculine energies working together.

THIS is empowered. THIS is where we create our own reality.

And I believe it is the mix of BOTH that brings the big wins in business.

How does this work?

The feminine energy (creativity, genius, flow) needs Masculine energy (structure, systems, discipline) to be able to flow with it’s full potential.

So what does this mean for you as a female entrepreneur?

To allow our feminine magic, our creative genius, our relaxation and freedom to come through our businesses we MUST have the masculine structures set up first.

Non-negotiable!

If you are on path 1, it won’t be sustainable in the long term. If you’re starting to feel burnt out now, trust me, it’s because as a female you are not supposed to work from 100% masculine PUSH.

If you are currently on path 2, it might feel good for a while but my guess is the frustration of lack of results is going to set in soon.

Of course I’m not sitting here saying I’ve mastered this piece 100% - this is a BIG changed we are learning as females. Yet I have experienced that magical mix in varying degrees for myself and really do see this as a KEY factor behind my business growing 20X in the last 2 years.

I have sold out 4 multiple 6-figure launches in the last few years, and I know for sure that there is an art in utilizing the Inner Feminine Work (trust me, I live and breathe the woo-woo) in conjunction with proven marketing strategy and systems that produce great results.

“Freedom comes through Discipline”

Late last year I decided to dive even deeper into my systems and structures as I really understood that the stronger the masculine side of my business, the more I personally could flow, be free, create... I had mastered the ‘what to do’ in my business, but the more my business grew, the ‘how’ was still leaving me overwhelmed and burnt-out.

The man I turned to, to learn the masculine structure – the ‘HOW TO’?

Running a business admist chaos

 

The last few days have been a challenging few. Right now I should’ve been sitting by the pool at my hotel in Austin.

Instead, I am sitting on my sofa at home, cramming in some work before my husband wakes up.

2 days ago, just as I was starting to pack for my month long trip, someone rung to let me know John was in an ambulance on morphine, and on the way to hospital.

I won’t go into all of the details, but he’s now home – with a broken collarbone – and we’re navigating the next steps of surgery, healing and whether he can look after himself while (if) I’m away.

And you see this is just the way it is to be an entrepreneur. Life happens. There is no boss to ring as say ‘I won’t be in today’, there is no sick leave… there is just you.

And while the freedom of working for yourself is honestly such a gift, when life goes crazy, it is equally important to keep the wheels turning.

If we stopped working every time something came up in life, business would simply never grow. You see NOBODY has 24/7 free-time to work on their businesses. We all live in this messy, fast-paced life and learning to how to BEHAVE as an entrepreneur is something we don’t talk about enough.

For me, I really believe that learning to work in flow THROUGH life’s chaos has been one of the KEY reasons for my fast business growth.

In January I was going through another wave of chaos – this time directly in my business.

I was amidst moving my entire business to a new (and complex) system, using a new team in a different timezone. The project had got so behind that it spilled into my launch period of UPswing Mastermind meaning the set-up team had to run the launch.

In what was possibly the most important few weeks of my business year, the system was broken, mistakes were being made (daily) - blank emails were being sent, replays for webinars which hadn’t even aired were going out – and there was just 1 hour a day the team was able to help me due to timezones. Then one of their staff quit and the owner went on holiday mid launch... And I had no control over any of it as I was yet to be trained on the system. I could go on… but it makes me cringe remembering it!  Let’s just say it was chaos behind the scenes.

In the past, I would have either burnt out or crumbled in an emotional mess and given up under such circumstances….

So when I tell you that those same 6 weeks saw me do $250k in sales, you might think I’m telling you a different story!

How did I stay focused on what mattered and block out the chaos to ensure my most successful launch yet and on-boarding of the loveliest group of women I’ve worked with to date?

At the time I had just started working with Todd Herman in his 90 Day Year program. Todd not only guided me on WHAT I needed to focus on during that time, but even more importantly, HOW to work efficiently, effectively and productively – no matter what chaos is going on around.

I credit the behaviour Todd taught me to that launch success, and my entire work habits have been completely transformed this year from working with him.

He teaches how to work from our ‘Oww' or 'Wow' brain and this understanding has not only helped me achieve so much more, but more importantly for me, by working less. For me, with my background of Adrenal Fatigue, I am not willing to sacrifice my health for success as I see so many other ‘success stories’ doing – and so learning how to work SMART has been life changing for me.

2016 has seen me work with so much more EASE. I have so much focus. I work less hours than ever before. And as a result I have had so much productivity! (Let alone the income which has naturally followed)

And when chaos hits, as it has this week. Yes of course it has thrown me around, but knowing my priorities and my own most effective work habits has meant I've been able to keep the important pieces running and for the most part step back to take care of my husband.

3 Ways to Get your Spark Back

“I feel like I’m putting myself out there. I’m doing talks on Health & Wellbeing at the gym, and I’m posting on Facebook, but it just doesn’t seem to be going to that next level. I want to be getting paying clients.”

“I feel frustrated because, I’ve been putting in a lot of effort it seems and I’m not getting results.”

“Where am I going wrong? I know my stuff. I feel I should be way more ahead than I am.”

Sound familiar? Not only do I hear this often from new Health Coaches in my UPswing Mastermind, but I went through this exact scenario myself when I was starting out.

Let me offer some relief by saying, it is absolutely normal to be feeling frustrated when you’re not getting the results you hoped for – your inner child IS going to start getting stroppy and grumpy if you’re giving, giving, giving and not getting.

Vibration is everything. And it’s hard to keep that stamina and that excitement if we’re not getting rewards back. Little inner child’s going to start getting stroppy and grumpy if you’re giving, giving, giving and not getting.

A large amount of what I’ve learned around feminine energy, is that as women the reason we are getting burnt out is because we do just give, give, give and we don’t get anything back. That’s because we’re not asking or we don’t know to ask, or we don’t think it’s okay to ask.

By asking, I mean, when we’re putting ourselves out there, we need to be asking for the sale. I cover this in detail in my Mastermind – how to sell soulfully without being ‘salesy’.

In business we DO have to ask. It’s something that I had to work on as a woman, and something I encourage all of my new Health Coaches to do, too.

It’s the reason salesmen make a lot of money.

In my own business, for example, maybe one or two people have emailed me in maybe the last 4 years and asked me about one on one coaching. People don’t come to me;  I go to them.

When I think back to a time when my one on one clients were up to 25 at a time – fully booked –there is only a handful of people who came to me.

We do have to be the ones asking for the sale; asking people to work with us. Sometimes that needs to be a bit ‘pushier’ than we feel comfortable with, but we’re in business and this is the biggest issue I see in the online community, too.

So, it’s normal to get frustrated when you’re not getting results. That frustrated place, though, is not a really high vibe energy to go out and get clients.

 

 

You need to find that thing that’s going to get your spark back. It’s common sense that the person who is excited and out there with passion and wanting to share their message and says, “I’m going to create a video for my ideal clients”, and “I’m going to get out and give a talk” and “Hey you guys, seriously, you need to buy my program because I want you to have what I’ve got because I’ve learnt…” is going to sell over someone who’s feeling like, “People just don’t want to buy – I’m not going to put that up in my FB group because no-one’s going to want to hear from me.”

It’s obvious which one is going to sell, right? But when we’re in it it’s hard.

The key is we need to find in ourselves what’s going to get us back into our high vibe place – what’s going to spark us; what’s going to excite us?

And then choose to get back on the horse. You need to be in that energy to go out there and get visible. First, though, you need to reset.

What would it take for you to reset?

Here are my 3 Ways To Get Your Spark Back When Nothing's Going Right:

 

1.     START WITH SELF-COMPASSION

Acknowledge to yourself that this is part of being an entrepreneur, and that there’s nothing wrong with being in the space you’re in AT ALL.  It’s going to happen time and time again throughout your time in business – even when your business grows. You’re going to launch, put all this effort in…and no one buys. And you don’t know why and you get knocked off the horse. Or you’ve got clients and then someone stops paying. And then you get knocked off.

Compassion has a frequency that heals. Sometimes we feel that we have to be positive, positive, positive all the time and not experience any negativity. Sometimes you have to give compassion for the negative space you’re in. Sometimes what happens is we beat ourselves up because we think we’re wrong for feeling like this and then we end up in a downward spiral. It’s important to acknowledge that you’re not wrong - and then make the choice to come back.

 

2.     CONNECT WITH YOUR MOTIVATOR

People tend to be motivated by one of 4 things – we have elements of all four, but one will be dominant.

My friend Robyn Jackson Brooks is an expert in the field of these 'Will Drivers' - aka what motivates us and shares he signature tips with us.

She advises: ask yourself this question to find out which is your dominant motivator, ‘Why is building this business so important for me?’

(i)              Autonomy – wanting freedom. It would be more important to this person that they work on their own schedule; that they are not told what to do by a boss. Most freedom people want to be by themselves, not in a group like a mastermind.

(ii)            Mastery – wanting to master things. A lot of people would come to a mastermind for mastery; wanting to learn from the best. They have questions like, how can I improve this? and how can I build my business? how can I get better at this?

(iii)           Purpose – wanting to connect with the big reason you’re doing what you do. You may say, I don’t care if I’m getting paid, what’s the impact it’s having?

(iv)           Connection – wanting belonging. This person is motivated by how they are perceived by the people close to them, not people they don’t know. This holds a lot of businesses back because we’re worried about what others think.

Connecting to your motivator will direct you to what lights you up about being in this business.

You are not wrong, by the way, if you don’t have Purpose as your motivator – if you’re not purely in it to be Mother Theresa, but you’re in it because you want to have a killer blog and you love talking about health and you want to master that (Mastery). Of course you’re still helping people.

Maybe it is more about ‘all I care about is how I help people’. There’s no right or wrong here.

Once you have identified your motivator, it’s about coming back to that every day and asking, “How can I help people today?”

It might be as simple as I need to go for a run, or I need to walk away for a week – feeling like you have the freedom again.

What would it be for you to get excited again?

 

3.     TURN YOUR BELIEFS AROUND

Picture a film projector. There’s a piece of film in the front of the projector, with light coming through the film and projecting a movie onto a white wall. That film is the beliefs that we have going on at any given moment.

So the light (which is actually your inner light that shines from you) is being shone through that film and it’s getting tainted by your beliefs – even if you’re coming up with mantras like, ‘I desire 5 clients’, etc.

What you’re projecting through the film is, ‘No-one wants to buy’,  ‘I’m probably being annoying’, ‘it’s not working’, whatever it might be. No matter what the intention is behind, it you’re projecting what’s on the film.

The good thing is you can change what’s on the film.

The realignment that needs to happen is, ‘I’m going to act as if everyone wants to buy’ or ‘I’m going to set up a workshop because there are 10 people out there who would love to come and hear what I have to say, and there’ll be a couple of people in there who’d love to work with me and have the lifestyle I have’.

When you are coming from that place with your film, you’ll see a change.

I believe that in order to be a great coach, you have to value coaching. Joining a coaching mastermind is, in my opinion, the best thing a new health coach can do for themselves and their business. This means investing in yourself.

Investing in yourself can be one of the most difficult decisions to make when new health coaches are considering growing their coaching business. 

Truth - it can be scary!

Yet when you think about it logically, how can you ever expect your potential clients to value investing in coaching, if you as the coach don't value it highly in your own life first?

 

I caught up with Shaina when she’d just completed my 6 month UPswing Mastermind program and we got chatting about just that.

Let me set the scene: Shaina is a gifted personal trainer, dance teacher and fitness instructor who wanted to grow her business so that she could have more time and money for her family.

My issue was no money to join the program,” says Shaina. 

At the time of joining, Shaina was charging $30 a session as a trainer. It’s hard to justify spending thousands on a program when there is not much money coming in to begin with. Well, that’s the logic we naturally apply to a situation like this.

JUST GO OUT THERE AND DO THIS

Before I signed up, Amanda gave me a bit of advanced coaching to say ‘go out there and do this’,” continues Shaina. “I knew I had to get some clients before I even started the Mastermind!"

After I picked up my first client it gave me confidence to get more clients to pay for the program. Then, when I knew I could get clients, I felt confident enough to ask to borrow for the first payment, and ever since I’ve been getting clients in order to pay for myself."

Shaina’s story is not uncommon. It is a large story around money itself. It’s the fear that new coaches have to overcome - around investing in the program - that ironically propels them forward.

It was a leap of faith,” agrees Shaina. “I had feelings of knowing the program was for me, and the fear of money, and knowing if I told my husband how much it was going to cost he would say I’m crazy."

I had to overcome that fear and take the leap of faith, knowing that I was going to go where I couldn’t go on my own [in my business] and that the UPswing Mastermind was what I needed in order to get there.”

From charging $30 a session, and a couple of weeks into the UPswing Mastermind program, Shaina started upping her price to $500 for the next clients. “Then 2 weeks later again, I jumped to $1000 for my 3 month program, and it’s gotten better and better."

5 or 6 weeks into the Mastermind I sold a $4000 package for a 6 month program, following the formula of knowing how to get clients."

NEW LEVEL, NEW DEVIL

There is a money block that pops up for coaches who start to make big money called, New Level, New Devil. It’s that feeling of, ‘Who am I to be making this money? Who is this superstar clicking her fingers and making all this money?’

Shaina continues: “The next few months after I’d had great success things went backwards and I was kind of lost and my confidence dropped. It took a couple of months of work to get back to where I was, to get that belief system back up.” 

Everyone has their own fears and money blocks; those things that are going to hold us back. But with the tools and the mindset work provided in the UPswing Mastermind Shaina was able to command really great income again when all these new mindset changes came in.

BACK IN THE GAME

I got myself back in the game,” says Shaina. “You start to remember why you’re doing it; that you’re doing it for everyone else, and then the flow begins and the money comes to you. Last weekend I made $5.5k selling a one on one program.” 

Personally, I always have a mentor on my team and I am always in a mastermind (ideal for me is a mastermind with access to a mentor within it). As coaches we will always need a coach of our won if we are committed to growth, expansion and excellence in our businesses. I really don't think it is possible to build a great coaching business alone.


KEY LEARNING

Investing in yourself is a big decision, but it is outweighed by how much money you can generate with a structured program that gives you the tools to go out and get clients. The personal development and money mindset coaching plays a big part in helping coaches to see a return on their investment. When you decide to invest in yourself everything around you opens up. And as a coach, it is imperative that we receive our own coaching support as we continue to grow and evolve.

At a spirited urban retreat I attended last December here in Sydney, we did an exercise around receiving that turned into a major “aha” moment for me.

Basically, we had to allow our partner (a stranger) to give to us, in the form of a shoulder massage, and see how much we could fully trust that it was safe to receive.

It surprised me to find that I experienced some resistance during this process. I kept wondering when the time would be up, and feeling like I needed to give back in order to “deserve” this.

Let me tell you: I thought I had this receiving thing DOWN after the massive work I’ve done around Wealth Consciousness that helped me get to $5k months as a health coach… then to my current multiple 6-figure coaching biz.

Turns out, there are always more depths to explore!

But first, let’s get back to my “aha” moment.

I had been ready to take my business to the next level for quite some time, but it was feeling really hard and heavy whenever I thought about it.

I was stuck in this internal battle of knowing what I am supposed to be putting out into the world, but also feeling like I might burn out if I went for my bigger goals.

So instead, I let them fester away.

When I did this exercise, I realized I had a block around receiving (specifically around receiving the business support I really needed).

And I am not joking – it was literally 30 minutes later that I met the woman who has been supporting me to do this ever since!!!

So let me ask you... Are you able to 100% receive from others,  Jane?

Without guilt, and without feeling unworthy?

If you have blocks around receiving, then I guarantee this will impact your business. In fact, without being able to receive, it’s unlikely you’ll get far at all as a Health Coach.

(This isn’t meant to discourage you – but rather to encourage you to look deeply at your patterns around receiving, and do the work that will open the floodgates and allow everything you desire to show up.)

You are not meant to do this alone. And you don’t have to.
